Work in Progress

Without the swell box:

Organs at St Gregory’s

The main wind reservoir is at the bottom of the frame, which plenty of room for it to expand when filled with air! Above, the Great soundboard is in place, waiting for its pipes. Both the soundboards will be moved back to St Gregory's in the near future so that they acclimatise again to the temperature and humidity of the church.

The quality of the workmanship in the soundboards was typical of the work of Gern; his father was a cabinet-maker by profession, and the skills in woodworking would have been learned very early by the young August.
