
Any small holes in the top of the soundboard
must be filled to prevent the escape of air. The channels are flooded
with glue. This is a significant step in the work of restoring the soundboards.
Once this is completed, the next task is
to add the action; the pallets (flaps when control the admission of wind
to the pipes themselves) and the electro-pneumatic mechanism which operates
the pallets.
These pictures only show the Great soundboard
- the swell soundboard needs the same treatment, and a new soundboard
has to be made for the pedal stops, as the original one is not suitable. |
